Challenge Radio brings together a host of presenters and some of our favourite voices on UK radio to celebrate the radio medium, its achievements and its future. Produced as part of the Radio Festival, the station will broadcast from a dome located outside The Lowry, near Media City UK in Salford on Tuesday 14th October for 12 hours from 8am!

Challenge Radio is an industry collaboration with talent from BBC and commercial, as well as student and community radio all presenting shows throughout the day.

Anneka Rice, presenter of Saturday Breakfast on BBC Radio 2, is ambassador of the aptly named ‘Challenge Radio’, rounding up presenters and ensuring the station is a big hit. Anneka will also take to the mic, presenting her own show on the station.

Anneka said:

“We’ve got loads of presenters collaborating for Challenge Radio, doing an eclectic mix of shows. My latest recruit is BBC Radio 2’s Ken Bruce, who will come up to Manchester and present his show from the dome. There’s something for everyone on the station, it’s a real mix, you must tune-in!”

We will follow Anneka’s progress on our Twitter (@ChallengeRadio) throughout the day and over the weekend. You will be able to listen to Challenge Radio online right here where we shall also be announcing more about the project as Anneka arranges more friends to help out.
